An Evolving Trio
2016 Pinot Noir, Sta. Rita Hills
With a warm spring and early summer, Santa Barbara County saw another early harvest in 2016, with some of the warmer spots harvesting in late August. We experienced a medium size crop that ripened beautifully into intense, yet balanced wines.
2017 Pinot Noir, Fiddlestix Vineyard, Sta. Rita Hills
Much has been written about the Fiddlestix vineyard and wine industry veteran Kathy Joseph who had the vision to plant in the heart of the Sta. Rita Hills in Santa Barbara in 1996. Located on a sunny, southwest-facing hillside, across the road from the venerable Sanford and Benedict vineyard, the 100+ planted acres are primarily Dijon clone Pinot Noir.
2018 Pinot Noir, Fiddlestix Vineyard
Bursting with a complex medley of ripe fruit aromas of Bing cherry, red currant and blackberry that dances with baking spice and dried earth notes. Ripe and lush on entry, the midpalate expresses the primary red fruit but evolves into complex flavors wrapped in a fine silky layer of sweet vanilla. Youthful tannins are supple and linger with a burst of late summer strawberry notes.
